Railfan.net Forum Posts written by a Former Member
Railfan.net does not allow Guest Posting, only members may post. When a member is
deleted for any reason their account becomes a Former Member "guest" account.
Occasionally a forum member self-deletes their account which happens for a
variety of reasons.
A member just doesn't have time to participate anymore.
A member may have written something embarrasing and can't face other members anymore.
A member may have been offended by something posted by another member. Remember, we
don't have to like every other member, but we must treat everyone here with at least
a minimum amount of respect when we post!
A member may so strongly disagree with something a member or members posted that they
no longer wish to participate here.
A member may have left their email address public or may be worried that somehow their
email address has been harvested by a web spammer spider. If they did not explicitly uncheck
the "Hide E-Mail Address" box when registering or have not made it public by changing it
in your profile then nobody can get your email address from here. If an email address was
harvested because it was public on here, it's too late end self-delting won't help any more
than just editing your profile and making it private again. Railfan.net NEVER
gives out anyone's private information without permission unless required to by law and even
then only in the course of a law enforcement investigation. I have no verified evidence that
a member has self-deleted for this reason, but my intuition tells me there have been several.
A member wants to change their screen name and doesn't realize they can do this by
simply editing their profile.
There are probably other reasons, but if the member doesn't let us know why, we're
in the dark!
