New book on this road which climbed to 11,000' over the continental divide west of Denver.
Mister Moffat's Road, by Stan Moore     www.mistermoffatsroad.com

Running this road over the mountain bankrupted the Denver Northwestern and Pacific Railway.  Ultimately a tunnel was bored under the Divide.

A very interesting RR for sure. The Denver station managed to survive all of the development downtown. Another book on the D&SL is "Rails that Climb" by Edward T Bollinger.
