Title: The Central Indiana
Post by Roger_Hensley on Jul 16th, 2017, 8:30am
Was a decent railroad owned by the NYC and PRR as a bypass to Indianapolis. However, when the railroads merged there wasn't much room for the CI. Here is a shot of the last and only new locomotive that the CI ever owned. All the rest were hand me downs.

According to my October 1956 Official Guide, these were the mileages and Stations on the Central Indiana:

0.0    Anderson  (Interchange with PRR and "Big Four")
4.9   Bloomer
9.2   Lapel
12.6  Durbin
18.3  Noblesville  (Interchange with Nickel plate Route)
24.8  Westfield    (Interchange with Monon Route)
29.8  Jolietville
33.0  Rosston
36.0  Gadsden
42.5  Lebanon  (Interchange with PRR and "Big Four")

The route is listed as Freight Service Only, and headquarters were in Anderson, Indiana.

Regards,

Norm

Correct.
It used to run from Muncie to Brazil Indiana and had several names before it was purchased by the NYC and PRR as a bypass to Indianapolis.

Central Indiana Railway #1 crossing the NYC at Delco Tower in late 1949.
