The group to the right was waiting to get up into the Amtrak engine visiting Steamtown, but they had to move back because the 514 was coming through with the yard shuttle.

On Saturday, Steamtown treated all of the RailCampers and their parents to a ride on the Moscow excursion.

This has been a VERY small sampling of the activities this year. If anyone wants to add pictures they are surely welcome to. I tried to keep my pictures to ones that had campers in, but you don't have to. I'll post more shots if anyone wants to see them.

On Friday we also got to operate a live steamer.

This year people from as far away as Kansas, Texas, and Florida attended RailCamp at Steamtown.

We got to take turns going up into the cab to look around and ask the hostelers some questions. Here the long line of eager campers is waiting to climb the ladder to the cab for probably one of the happiest moments of their young foamer lives. lol.

This year NRHS held a youth railcamp at Steamtown in PA and this coming week they will hold another at Ely, Nevada. Several forum members attended, so lets see some photos and video. I'll start off with a picture from our trip to Paoli, PA on the 10th of July. We were there to view an Amtrak track replacing machine in action.

Besides the art of Railroading...

I love to listen to music, play Flight Simulator, build things, play on the internet, autocad stuff, and TSA.  Marching Band takes up alot of my school beginning time.

BUT

The other main thing that takes up my life and passion is SCOUTING
I am Life, 3 away from eagle plus project (live steam cars), OA Botherhood, Already held SPL, ASPL, etc.  Now JASM.  Love to camp, kayak, backpack.  Planning to Backpack Appalachian Trail (well 70 miles) summer 2008.  Thats about it.

Below is my "famous" Picture at the Vietnam Wall during the Scout Jamboree 2005.  You can see the reflections of the scouts.

I do like the UBoats and F-40 and then genesis, but of course, I am holding on to my 1/8th GE 44....  I drew that picture below, I am going to cut the shell of it out of wood tomarrow (friday) at school with a 45 watt laser, which is percise to 1/128 of a inch, close enough.  I got over 170 wooden parts to put together and to fiberglass just for the shell, another 160 or so for the wheels, motor, drive system, switches, lights (i'm adding ditch lights, just to look cooler) fans, water pumps, batteries, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,etc

A little ways to go....

My first cab ride was in 1998 when I was in China.
One of my relatives (my mom's sister's husband's brother ) was an engineer for a railroad in Shanghai.
Since he was going to do some switching in the yard, I was invited to come. Of course I did!
The engine was 2-8-2 0009 (similar to the 142), and he ran the engine back and forth. I even got to "run" it.
And I do have slides of this run! But I don't have a way to get them on here.

I got another cab ride in September, in the PRR 0-6-0 643.
It was only a 15 minute ride, but it was great run, bringing up memories from long ago.

Southern Green, I would say Harpers Ferry is the best area, very historic and lots of CSX action. There is as hotel/restaurant on the top of a hill where you can see all most all the action. So have a camera with good zoom. Then again there is probably a better place near there but I don't get down there much.

For my Favorite place, all along the Delaware River, from the Bel-Del to NH&I to the BRW (whether you think it counts or not) all the other roads I see on the way, it's just a all around good area.

btw, the bellow pic was taken from the Bel-Del train ride.

Hey fellas

For all our model railroaders here, anyone want to share photos of some, or their prized model train? Can be any scale and prototype.

I'll begin with my one. I spent two hours today assembling these two Athearn AMD103 P42 locomotive kits (The good ol' Blue boxes!), one of which I got from a Greenburg Trainshow in NJ, the other I got locally in Australia.

I'm a fan of American passenger and commuter trains, particularly the locomotive hauled ones, as such a thing hardly exists where I come from! P42's are a noice looking locomotive †

In terms of my modelling, I'm an avid HO Scale modeller, and model both American and Aussie stuff.

My Polar Express.......... Suggrestion: If your into diffrent seasons like Winter and fall or spring ect and is tight on space, if possible make a mountain. You can elevate a Winter layout at the top of the mountain makeing the mountain white green a brown. you can also add a tunnel. The top part can be a Christmas winderland with summer or another season on the bottom

I still want to build my own. I'll have to get around to that one of these days but first I have to get all the engineering out of the way. There are no plans for my locomotive as I designed it myself. The below picture is a computer drawing of the locomotive. Do you think it would be a better idea to first build a piece of rolling stock to get used to things? I have a car design that I would LOVE to make a reality.

   Guys,

Here is a young live steamer who is really into the hobby. His name is C. Wilks. The engine is HIS. He purchased it when he was fourteen. HE just finished intalling a new heavier boiler on it. The pictures are from the first day he ran it in a few years. These pics are from about six weeks ago at the buckingham Central in N. Ft. Myers, Fl.

First pic shows Cam just after he unloaded the locomotive from his pick up.
Second photo has Cam tending the fire before moveing onto the transfer table.
Third has him running the engine, under steam, out onto the transfer table.

   Take care,

   Bruce

Re: Any of you Model Railroaders? - By green_elite_cab on 08/23/06 at 17:11:04 - 'img_0828_132.jpg' 43 KB
I have the roads in, i just need to paint them, and get more scenery in. I'm holding off on the ballast until i can wire in detection circuits for signals.  this picture is bad though, becaue i moved the water tower to where the power line tower is. I think i'm not going to use them on my layout, I can't find a good way to wire them in to the catenary transmission poles.  I'd need something taller.

 † Guys,

† Here are a couple of photos of two brothers who had never run a steamer before, They are the nephews of Peter Bialecki, owner of the Buckingham Central in N. Ft. Myers, Fl. The boys, Jake and Josh were visiting SW Florida with their parents. So Pete and myself decided to light up our engines and let the guys have a shot at running them. And they did good too.
first snap shot shows Jake at the throttle of Pete's beautiful NYC Hudson, and Uncle Pete walking along side, keeping an eye on things

Aside from trains (which takes up most of my time   ), there's the usual (video games, TV), taking care of pets and the neihbors pets, eBay, and Boy Scouts (peridoicly).  I'm also working on expanding my interests in photography, like with this picture

Sorry for saying too much, just trying to come clean

† And this is a photo of another, at the time, young live steamer. Faceing camera.
Mike had been running my Atlantic about two years when this picture was taken. About seventeen years old. He is now well past twenty four years.
