I started this thread for anyone interested in monongahela valley railroad opperations. Im going to school in the area and I definitly dont know everything about the area but Im trying to figure it all out. Its basically for the NS Mon Line, and the CSX Mon Sub.

Ill start it out with a couple videos and a picture from the past couple of days.

This is a southbound empty NS coal train just south of west brownsville.

Here is NS N71 with CSX power at west brownsville as it heads across the river to get back to CSX rails

A NS train sitting in the west brownsville yard. It has covered hoppers so Im not sure where it was headed, a coal mine maybe?

Shame this thread never took off, a lot of history in PAs Mon Valley including a ton of railroad history. Some news of sorts US Steel should have a new coke battery online by November 2012. The new battery should guaranty move Appalachian coal will be moving up the Mon and more Coke will be leaving the valley heading to mills throughout the US

More shots of the yard and some power

An ex-Monongahela Railway caboose ended up in the yard.

There has been a lot of MOW equipment in the area lately but I'm not sure if they are using this piece of equipment. It was there a week ago, but I saw that its gone now. Also there has been a stone ballast train, herzog train, and welded rail train, that ive seen, go down the line so they must be doing some trackwork somewhere.
