I'm going to make it a point to scan the old photos from the family collection this fall and winter. They are a mixed bag in both quality and subject matter ! Some PRR, B&O,BR&P, PC, Conrail, Penn View Mountain RR, Etc. Keep your eyes peeled in other forums.

Another vintage Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburgh RR photo. " Tunnel near Punxsutawney, PA 1909 or 1910" Check out the donkey engine! It looks like everybody came to pose for this one.

Supposedly 2 from KCS. I did see a shot of them in Butler on another board. They are to be in Brookville at the moment being overhauled along with another HCRY SD45? Don't know if there are any more coming.

Just wondering how long an overhaul would take. This seems like a very indepth thing. removing the hoods, etc!    second how often do B&P and AVR interchange? I notice the rails along rt8 in glenshaw never get rust on top!

Excerpt from State grant funds allocation for PA RR's-

* Indiana and Jefferson counties: -- Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad,
Inc. will receive $2 million for the rehabilitation of the remaining
section of track that serves the Homer City Power Station. The project
will help create 100 jobs, maintain 500 jobs and reduce the number of
truck trips by 22,851 trips annually.

I have always loved trains, but in the last year or so have gotten into "railfanning."  Was hoping some of you could help me with B&P train IDs?  BF-Buffalo, BT-Butler, RI-Rikers, NC-New Castle, etc.  I can hear B&P dispathcers on the scanner from my home on the B&P repeater and former P&S repeater freqs., but have heard some IDs that I can't figure out or have seen on here or elsewhere.

Welcome EMT. Sorry I cant help you with the ID's but I can help with other things on the BP. This is a good area to get info on her. Its a good growing railroad, and the shop in butler does give some good shots.

A ton of ties in Renfrew today. Two very large piles along railroad street. Also caught two SD's and the LTEX tunnel on a long scrap train heading into butler

If you can take a look at the tracks for me. I wonder if they did a major upgrade on the line. Cause it sounds like alot of ties where replaced. How often does B&P run past zelli on that line?

Hello,

Atlas Rail Company has been doing alot of routine maintenance on this line for years now since B&P leased it from CSX....CSX owns the right of way... B&P maintains the tracks....twice a day trains run through here.

Hello,

This line is the old P&W sub of the CSX...actually CSX still owns the property and B&P leases the tracks and maintains them...this goes down to pittsburgh and interchanges with the CSX.

Numbers for regionals and shortlines just came out. G&W traffic is up 2.3% for the last quarter. This isnt just B&P but hey if the company is healthy everybody is healthy. Any word on the tunnels yet?
