Watch for some action around AK steel in butler. Drove past yesterday and dang tons and tons of empty gondolas building up. A line over a mile long coming out of the melt shop and wrapping around to rt8. A good bit of coil cover, and a few other 1/4 mile long sets of empty gondolas. Oh and now alot of the old trinity siddings are gone. I know AK for a long time used these to store rail cars emptys etc, but now that space is gone.

Well made it to greenville, disapointing trip. Once i got there i drove around trying to get a good spot to check out the shops.  Parked across the bridge and walked over. The place was dead. About 3 cars in the lot. and no locos to be seen. Coulnt tell if anything was inside the shop. transfer table was empty, and no MOW trucks anywhere. I drove up 18 a ways and all signals in both directions where red over red. So Im home for lunch then off to the calvin yard.

Short and fast! This guy had her notched out and moving good with only 50 or so emptys behind her. 40mph plus. Had a hard time switching between cameras. Hopefully i got a better shot of the lead on my 35mm.

Here is a pic for you MG, latest Athearn Ready to Roll.  Sorry for the poor image quality, bad lighting takes away from a rather nice model.  Only real drawback is that it doesnt have constant lighting, something that is a must for todays models in my option.  Todd

Thanks MG, I wish I could tell you its nice, but it really isnt so hot, and the pictures, man its hard to get a good picture of a layout without good lighting.  That flash looks like a giant flash of lightning, but oh well.  My layout is just a 2x8 mudular type and I am actually putting together plans to model the P&W.  That will be my real layout, and one that will probably take some years to complete.  Thanks again for the positive comments.  Todd

It very well could be the last days of the Bessemer with rumor of 905 and 904 leaving for the CN snow country next week.  Again a very bad management decision by CN.  Somebody at CN headquarters needs to lose there JOB!!!

Breaking my heart. 904 would have to be a personal fav. I have the athearn model, and for some reason I always would catch her on point when i caught a train.  Are they sending these two units and not replacing them? If so then what we are down to 6 tunnels, and two sd38's. Which leads two 3 unit lash ups, one for calvin, and one extra to rotate in and out for services?  Wow at this rate I wonder how long CN plans on running opperations on the B&LE. very very sad indeed
