Great Shots! ...specially the one of 58 coming out of Wooddale Cut...

Slight correction though...

The Barley Mill Tangent is a litte over 2000 feet in length.....about 4/10th's of a mile. The last leg of Hockessin Hill is actually the longest stretch of straight track on the RR....and it only has Barley Mill beat by about 60 feet....There isn't a straight mile of ROW on that entire line...fact is, there are more right hand curves than left.

The shortest section was the 12 foot section, mid length of the old "S" trestle...dunno if it still maintains that design aspect in the new bridge.

I still say all volunteers on any railroad should go through some sort of professional P.R. training....Public Relations tend to be most Railroads biggest hinderence....most organizations look at just advertising as the big part of PR but the individual contact is what lasts the longest.

Last Saturday was a busy day at the RR along with the regular train to Mt. Cuba and one to Hockession. We had a charter for the Dootlebug covering the entire line.
After we left  the station on the Bug we stopped for a shop tour then down to Landenburg Jct.
The three box cars had been left out Friday for CSX to pick up with three more due in this week.

The charter passengers were left in Hockession for lunch and to catch a bus to the next location. We went back east to meet the 1230 Mt. Cuba train at the picinc grove.

We followed 58 back to Greenbank and once the Hockession Exp. left at 2 we put the bug away for the day.

That looks like a fun day at the Railroad. I like the last picture with the 2 side by side. Not something you see everyday

I believe it's about it being the Santa Special or the Polar Express....something like that.  I haven't seen it in a few years.

Oh, thank you. I think it's the Santa Special cause I don't think they have a Polar Express, or do they?

Very nice pictures. It sure would be something if the Long Island Railroad let the Railroad Museum put something like that on the front of the engine for tomorrow. That will be the day

This shot is backwards.....cool though to see it from that prospective...almost like 58 was turned to face East.
