Last one. The next trains to Hockession are July 4th. Doodlebug rides during the day from East Hockession to Yorklyn and a Double head steam that evening to the Fireworks display in town.

Some pictures from today's Grand opening train to Hockession. First making up the six coach train in the yard.

6 cars? W&W only has 5 ridable cars, right? Or did they convert the Buffet car into a passenger coach as well? It also appears to me that the open car is in the middle of the train. Interesting. And not very common. Also, it looks like 98 pulls into Hockessin with only half the consist (and the others put on a siding), judging from the "rest of the consist" shot. What's up with that?

Sorry about being so picky about the consist (I always am, for some reason ). The photos are excellent! I personally love the "We're back" banner on the baggage car.

The consist was: 98, the combine, the PRSL diner, coach, open air car, coach, coach, caboose, and 114. It looked funny how it was put together, but that's what they did.

(114 was needed to assist 98 to get up the hill to Hockessin. I bet 58 could handle it, no problem )

98 and the combine were separated from the train to be part of the Ceremony, but not fouling the crossing.

Say, K&QARR, I was the one with a green C&TS shirt and a Milwaukee Road hat. Which one were you?

410 had the invited guests so the PRSL was next for their food and another place to sit and congregate.  The charter after the train dictated the rest they did not need two of the coaches so it made sense to put them on the end for ease of removal at Greenbank. This also alowed 98 to take the charter by her self as two seperate crews were used and there was not another diesel crew. Normaly more coaches would have been taken to the triangle in Hockesion but we had to stop short to allow for the stage (flat car) that left room for only 98 and 410. I was the trainman in 410 for the first run.

I'm really glad that the W&W has finally made it back to Hockessin. That photo with the "We're Back!" banner is priceless. It shows that they had a positive additude about the whole project. For an all volunteer group, this railroad gets things done like no other.

Good job W&W!

As I am still working on my low light picture skills. This is the only pic of that trip. 98 is hooking back up to 58 after they crossed the Ashland Truss bridge seperately.

Nice Shots.....that track work in Ashland looks great...much better than the cinder ballast of bygone days.

Intresting to see they are still limited on the Ashland Truss....

I see the Gas Car has lost its' 5 chime on the B end.

How was ridership on the Fireworks Trip at 7pm?

Looks like the short turns did well.

The day trips were about full, and the 7pm sold out a few weeks ago.

You'll get better at it with time. It's tricky, but once you get it, it's spectacular! Especially because I don't think we have any night photos of the W&W on this board.

I'm assuming that the fireworks did go off at Hockessin (or wherever)? I'm just asking because I live about an hour north of Wilmington and there was some pretty nasty rain at times. There were no fireworks at my house, and you also have to keep the Fireworks Fiasco in Philly in mind.

You mean the $1 million display for the sanitation workers on the Parkway

The fireworks are set off right along side the W&W ROW in Swift Park. This section of track has been OOS for a long time...so the train can't go up into that area.... but it's only a few hundred yards from the triangle where they stop now.

From what I understand, they went off in between a light drizzle.
