Here's a photo of the Greenbank Station
How old is it, by the way?

The current Greenbank Station was completed in the fall of 1997. It was designed by W&W member E.Emerson Urion.

The "origianl" Station that stood there from 1966 till 1996 was the former PRR Kennedyville Station that was cut into sections and moved in the early 1960's to Greenbank. When this new station was contemplated, the intention was to only move the old station about 100 feet from its original site, but state building codes would not allow, so the station was once again cut into sections and moved, this time via railroad flatcar, to Hockessin where it was re-assembled using volunteer labor with the assistance of the Burro Crane. It sits RR east of the Rt41 crossing.

The Station was used as the Snack Bar and the only W&W station left was moved from Yorklyn in one piece in 1968 to Greenbank to serve as the Gift Shop. Bathrooms were located in another building in the parking lot near the creek. (this building survived Hurrican Floyed but was destroyed during TS Henri)  This layout worked for years, but as ridership increased a need was there to house the people inside during inclement weather, especially during reserved trains like Easter, Wild West, Civil War and Santa Clause Trians that would see over 1000 people in one day on two trips. Also an large increase in Charters during the late 90's warrented a facility to hold receptions and the like"in house" so to speak. So this 3000 Sq.Ft. structure was built.

The old Gift Shop, the former Yorklyn Station sits just about where the original Greenbank station (circa 1872) sat. All W&W stations on the branch looked the same. Yorklyn Station now serves as the Red Clay Valley Visitors Center.

Hey guys,

Here are some photos from the W&W from today (6/18/06). I must say that I was very impressed by the improvment of the operation, and it was a great day.

Here's 98. This is my first time seeing her in person, and I must say, she is one fine locomotive.
