Whats happening on the B.S.? Haven't seen any news on its activities posted in some time ,and living 1200 miles away from there now it's hard to follow its movements. Being rather familiar with most of the guys who work for the line I know B.S. isn't just the railroads initials.its a way of life .

Things there are busy as usual....however they did loose ConAgra due to the mill shutting down...they have been working on their new engine facility at Riefler's in Hamburg.....putting the finishing touches on a pit etc etc....

The Buffalo Southern is still chugging along. Hereisa shot of their C415 which is worked on as time permits. It will be nice to see this rare Alco in operation some day.

Given G&W's affinity for EMDs, I would think BS' Alcos would be an endangered species. Or, as fate may have it, is the BS pretty much allowed to operate as they want?

You have the BSOR confused with the SBRR...Buffalo Southern has no relation to GWI.  South Buffalo was bought by GWI, the SBRR had already EMDized a couple of years prior to the sale of the SBRR by Bethlehem Steel to GWI.  Hope this clears it up a bit.  I know it is easy to get confused.  Especially since the BSOR has a unit at Onieda Crushed Stone on the former Bethlehem Steel property.

I am a model railroader and I model in N-SCALE and currently in the process of modeling The BUFFALO SOUTHERN RR . I would like to know if you or Ms.Franz could answer this question. In talking with a old friend in Hamburg,NY a couple days ago on the telephone,he told me that The BUFFALO SOUTHERN Railroad is finished and possibly already sold off or even sold for the scrap value including some of the equipment / loco's sold to other railroads. Is this a fact?

I would try calling the yard office on a weekday morning. Just see what happens! Personally I have no idea when they operate-I'm over in Rochester!
Posted by: zx2trainchaser Posted on: Oct 1st, 2009, 10:48pm
Trains on the BSOR are operated as needed, typically several times per week / as needed by the customer.  Operations past North Collins have been suspended due to the flooding of 8/10/09.  Trains are not going past the Propane business in North Collins.   Anything past there is to interchange with the NY&LE RR @ Gowanda NY who have there own severe washout being repaired! Whew!!

I hope you had some luck catching Buffalo Southern.  With my new responsibilities at work, I am unable to get out as much as I used to.  Business may have slowed some due to economics of WNY but don't quote me!  Seen cars on usual sidings in Eden, and North Collins.  Used to have luck seeing operations running in that area on Wednesdays but the few times I've been out that way I haven't seen any action.
Posted by: towny72 Posted on: Aug 4th, 2011, 9:35pm
never made it to the area, but I still hope to make a lil detour on my next trip across NY.
