The Rochester & Genesee Valley RR Museum has an agreement with the LA&L for one day of excursions each year. After last year's experiment with running excursions on National Train Day, the event returned to the fall this year.

I caught the train passing thru the LA&L yard on its way to the loading site:

This location was known as Golah by the Erie RR. The NYC's Peanut Line used to cross here on a diamond:

Top notch pics as usual! Not nit-picking but wish they had put "Rocky" on as the single unit at the other end. Unique engine we dont see that much of. Black & white shots were nice too!

Thank you kindly! I think the power was chosen due to grades involved. Number 428 handled the short but sharp 0.87 % grade out at Conesus Lake Jct rather well, while #s 420 and 425 were good for the longer but less steep grade from Rush to Avon.

Thanks for the info Mathew. I have wondered how steep the grade out of the junction is. It is very visible in many of your past pics. How long ago was the NYC diamond removed (peanut line)? I also see abutments in your shot from the LV bridge. Were they RR?
Remembered seeing an earlier 2014 RGVRRM excursion and just checked the video again and as I suspected Rocky was on that one so I guess I got my wish two years ago but forgot about it Age will do that to a feller ya know

The NYC diamond was removed in either 1938 or 1939, when the Peanut Line was severed between Caledonia and Holcomb.

I've noticed those other abutments, too. Ken G and I have discussed them, and we're not sure of their origin.

Nice!
Photobucket won't load....'empty page'...
Those abutments by the LV bridge was probably the old farmer's overpass bridge. Remember seeing that on the older topo maps.
