According to the latest reports about #506 and #14, they are in the NS yard at Gang Mills.

I thought that they went north(west) on BH1001.  I was apparently wrong.  A friend spotted them still in the Gang Mills, but were moved out of sight.   So I'm told.  Sorry if I caused confusion.....rsp

That's good news! Was ex-TIOC #14 also part of the train?

Anyone know how the new units will be numbered?  Maybe 419 for 506?

Perhaps the two S2s and the RS1 could be renumbered into the system used by the larger units -- 410, 411, 412?

LAL tends to number units in the same series as already existing similar models, and in consecutive order..There is already an S2 number 72, so I would guess the new one will be number 73.
And there is already an RS1 number 20, so the new RS3 could become number 21.

Although numbers 72 and 20 came from old numbers those units wore before they came to the LAL, (LAL 72 was South Buffalo 72, and LAL 20 was LEFC 20) those numbers arent based on anything like horsepower or "model series", like the 400 and 600 series units are..so we might see a renumbering of both S2's and both RS's..but I doubt it. Its more likely IMO the two units will be numbered in the same series as the already existing S2 and RS1.

Here is the full roster: (without the new ones added yet)

Hi
Saw this on 'that auction site', thought it may be of interest to the group.  Hope it doesn't break any forum rules.
Cheers

Not asking much for it are they??
Aside from that, hope someone can let us know when the old girl disappears into the shops for the repairs and paint job whatever the end paint scheme may be.

^When I was back in Olean in December, she had been moved.

I did see a pic on another forum of 506 in the Olean enginehouse.

Probably moving it in and out as time and space allows it to be worked on.

Do they keep power in the bard over night to save on fuel in the winter months?

It's been some some now and not a word about this engine. Any word on progress or may they have shelved the project for some reason?

Radiators were leaking and were sent out for overhaul.  They have been repaired and returned.  506 should be next in line inside the shop.

That's good news! Thanks very much for the update. 506 is an old friend. She was only 24 miles away from me in Wellsboro, Pa.

Good news!

Would love to see this historical unit operating on the "branch" into Oil City but my guess is it will stay in NY.
