A summer day in Buffalo

Excuse the delay in posting ths one- I have been very busy this summer! Three weeks ago today, I made a nice trip to Buffalo. Considering the rainy weather we've had in the Northeast this year, it was nice to have a sunny, dry day.

The morning began at Tifft Street, where NS local H42 was working:

The crew of H42 did brake for deer!

The trailing unit of h42 was a "Kylon" SD40-2, which I think I saw on 316 a few months back:

The NS and B&P locals work side by side:

CSX also sent a local through Buffalo Creek Junction:

I moved furither south around mid-morning in order to try my hand at shooting trains at Ridge Road for the 1st time. This bridge works especially well for CSX and it looks like it would be good for the B&P, too.

Eastbound CSX mixed freight:

Seneca Yard is just south of Ridge Road, so it's also quite easy to photograph:

Eastbound CSX intermodal:

Westbound CSX unit tank train with BNSF power at Ridge Road:

it was met by Amtrak's eastbound  Lake Shore Limited:

A friend commented that the tail end of the tank train looked like a centipede, and I agree.

I headed back to TIfft Street around the middle of day, and caught a short eastbound CSX intermodal stopping there, while waiting for CP-1 to be lowered! this was the 1st time I have  seen CP-1 in the "up" position.

I spent part of the afternoon at Bayview Road. CSX had a maintainer working on their crossing signals, so there was a slow order for both CSX and NS trains.

This westbound inermodal maybeen 23K:

One of NS's customers was shuffling cars with a trackmobile:

Strangely enough, the only CSX train I saw at Bayview Road was a westbound mixed freight with a trailing NS unit:

This westbound NS mixed freight may have been 145 or perhaps I45 (an extra section of 145):
