A nice morning on the Tier

I spent another nice Saturday morning sitting next to the western segment of NS's Southern Tier Mainline.

Because of the continued cold weather, NS still has a switch heater in place at CP Linden.

Westbound NS intermodal 23K arrive at CP Linden/Molasses Hill Road around mid-morning.

The power mix included a couple of the old "white face" NS wide cabs.

The tail end of 23K has cleared Molasses Hill Road and is passing through the signals west of CP Linden.

Westbpund NS mixed freight 309 arrived at MP 389 on the Tier around 11:30 AM, which is a few hours later than when I normally see it.

The power for 309 arrives at the Spring Road corssing:

The latter portion of 309 had a string of covered hoppers. I think they may have been picked up from the R&S- more on that in a little while.

BTW, I think the late arrival of NS 309 may be related to the R&S. How so? i caught their road freight (as seen here) after departing Silver Springs, which is the 2 RRs interchange. Maybe the timing of one RR affected the other?
