The Financial Post had this to say on Friday regarding ridership over the Christmas season.  Good to see things improving year on year.  Here's hoping 2008 will be another record year for Via Rail!

VIA RAIL GETS BOOST FROM SNOW

VIA Rail loves snow. The Crown-owned railway said ridership along its crucial Quebec City-Windsor corridor during the most recent Christmas holidays was 10% higher than the prior season.

VIA says snow was the reason for the boost. "The positive performance of VIA in the Quebec City-Windsor corridor is partly explained by the train's reliability during recent storms where, despite some delays, there were no cancellations," VIA said in a statement.

Between Dec. 19, 2007, until Jan. 6, 2008, almost 21,000 extra people took the train along the corridor when compared with the same period of 2006/07.
