Yes, they still run dome cars, often up to 5-6 per train on the Canadian in the summer

VIA also runs Domes on the Montreal-Gaspe "Chaleur and on one of the three "Ocean" consists (the other two consists use the Renaissance cars). They will be adding a "Park" dome-observation to all the Ocean consists for the summer.

In the west VIA uses a Park car on the Jasper-Prince George-Prince Rupert "Skeena" and also the low-level domes on the Jasper-Edmonton "Snow Train Express"

Here's a photo of the Snow Train with the Skeena equipment parked behind it.

These Domes also have the distinction, as far as I know, of being the only Domes that have never been retired from revenue service, and moreover (in the case of the Canadian), are still serving the train to which they were originally assigned.  While virtually every one of the other 200+ Domes have been sold to tourist lines, short lines, transit agencies or museums (or else been scrapped), these cars have performed their duties, faithfully and non-stop, since the day they were first delivered in late 1954 or early 1955 (nearly 53 years ago now).  Truly an enviable achievement!

Norm

I had the pleasure of introducing the domes to my wife last April on the Canadian and the Chaleur.  I'd ridden domes on Amtrak in the '70's and I wanted her to experience the domes in regular service.  Needless to say we had a wonderful trip traveling round trip coast-to-coast.
