Archived threads

Hello all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to access threads that are older than those showing on the last page of threads? At the moment, the oldest accessible thread appears to be shots of the Duncam turn taken by CroftonSpur88 in 2004. I don't know when the VI forum started, but surely there is more content older than Sept 2004. I do hope that they are archived and accessible, and not purged!

Thanks,
Andrew

I don't recall when the Vancouver board was created, but I have evidence of posts in March of 2004.

I have never archived any threads that can be accessed through the web because I have never removed any for being too old. I have always believed in leaving old threads in place for reference purposes.

It would appear that staring in 2004 a former moderator of the Vancouver board started deleting a number of older posts for some reason. That moderator continued this practice into 2008. Since then a number of other posts have been deleted for a number of different reasons, but the majority of thread and deletions took place in 2008 and before.

The good news is that I do have copies of those posts, but the bad news is that they are not publicly accessible nor is there a practical method to make them so due to a number of reasons.

My policy has always been to let moderators administrate their boards in whatever reasonable way they wish. Some moderators wished to weed out old and/or irrelevant posts.

I'm sorry I don't have better news at this time.

IRC I think i've been on this forum since 2002 which was close to it's inception date.  The founder back then used to prune out the out-dated posts and clutter beyond 5 years old.  Threads with useful historical pics he would move to the front page and thumbtack it.  It kept things nice and tidy.

I just checked my own profile...I've been on here since 2002!

And I wouldn't have been on here at all if there wasn't a Vancouver Island forum.
