SRY isn't about to bring over a CN (BCOL) car unless they've got something set up for it. They wouldn't send a CN car here for storage. And didn't I read somewhere on this forum that they are having trouble getting cars loaded onto the barge to leave here? That trailers load as soon as the barge has been pulled? I'm certainly no expert, but that almost sounds like we're not getting enough barge service. I wonder how long that will last, after all, Seaspan is another Washington Corp business unit.

I think that was me posting on the yahoo group that you remember having read:

The large number of tankers are empty, I believe. One of the SRY crewmembers told me that they have been unable to get empties off of the island for quite sometime. He said that in the past month or so, as soon as they pull the barge, it is loaded with trailers.

The same crew member also told me that the "big ship" is out of service, and that they are currently using a smaller barge.

A while ago I mentioned some old rolling stock pictures. I've now got them scanned. Here's the Lincoln Grain car from Kansas in a 'car park' in Victoria in, I think, 1981.

CN boxcars. These were down near the Victoria CPR yard, I think. Again, it would be 1981.
I've quite a few more for other sections including a 1920 shot of Port Alberni station and a picture of GMD1 No. 1000 crossing the E&N at Koksilah. Will post them when I've a bit more time.

I thought this might have been taken up-island somewhere but on reflection it looks like it might have been Welcox.

just passing by today it looks like they moved the centerbeam over and coupled it to a bunch of grain hoppers in the second row back

It was coupled up with yet another example of raw logs being exported from the Island.

These are poles.  They are a high value product.  Quite the opposite of raw logs!
