Its been a while since I posted some shots of the route. Here is some more recent work around Mile 21.4 on the Port Alberni Sub. I will hopefull have this project wrapped up sometime this summer.

I had often wished I could have gotten a real life shot such as this. Hoepfully real trains will be running again in the near future.

How big is your boat?      I can see I'll have to buy a better video card.  Great work Chris!

If trains start runnning again on the real thing, I'll be running out to the nearest Sport Mart to buy a dingy to get such a shot which I have wanted to for many years. Hopefully the dog won't wreck this one

Two new G12 units were recently upoladed to the Trainsim.com library. These are new models built by Nigel Booth and Wayne Campbell.  They have almost inspired me to start work on the Tidewater and Cowichan subs but I must finish the first half of the E&N route first. Here are some shots of the new units.

Almost looks like it could be part of the Cowichan sub but it is actually Buckley Bay.

And this isn't Youbou, Courtenay yard instead. The G12s were sure alot smaller than the geeps of that era, it is no wonder they used two of them on the island. Does anyone know if one of the units were preserved?

You're not kiddin'. The GMD-1's could out pull them. Unfortunately, I've heard that both 991 and 992 were sent to Newfoundland as part sources.

Interesting fact, both 991 and 992 were the only locomotives that CN used on the island that ran short-hood forward.

I dont know if any G12's exist, either. But here is a link to one that was at NREC in Illinois, in May of this year...http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=104075   .  I have no information on this unit. I didnt know there were others besides CN 991 &992 (which were scrapped) in North America.

Did the G12's ever operate with any of the GMD-1s or were mu connections not possible. I would assume they could be, being GM units also.

According to CN's databooks, the G12's were NOT equipped for MU operation.

There was one standard guage CN G8 in Northern Manitoba, I think at INCO, not sure if it's still there, but that yellow one pictured above is suspiciously painted the way their units were, and it has a a 208-? number, alos a tell tale, so it is prob the same unit...I thought it was 854 that was up there though...
