GMD-1 1070 has just crossed under Burnside Rd and is now opposite Alpha Street, two miles from Borden Mercantile at the end of the 1.4 mile Saanich Spur.

GMD-1 1070 crossing Culduthel Rd, soon to be at the Wye [mile 1.6], headed to Borden Mercantile with a grain load. The old Town & Country mall  is in the backdrop, along with it's old anchor tenant, Woolco.

I would sure like to see some earlier images of Borden Mercantile and Heany Transport pre 62 before taken over by Johnston.

The 2128 is leading Train 585 westbound through the beautiful rural landscape of Metchosin.
By timetable, the time should be around 11.30 am.

Great picture. It look me a minute to get my bearings, but this is probably at Lindholm Road (mile 13.5) looking northeast towards Happy Valley Road.

Train 585, led by the 2141, is passing by Glen Lake and soon to cross the Sooke Highway at mile 10.35. The fireman has sanded the flues to put a good smoke show for Elwood.

That looks like the end of Anders Road (mile 10.10), looking east. And a ballast spreader has been by recently.  
 
Why is there an eastbound whistle post there, though? It's a little over a third of a mile (or one minute at 20 mph) away from Jacklin Road; I thought whistle posts were typically thirty seconds at track speed away from crossings.

One of the successors to the track damaging MLW diesels has arrived in the person of the iconic GMD-1 1000, seen here in the engine track at the Tyup terminal.

The GMD-1 1070 is approaching the Darwin Avenue crossing, with a loaded grain car  
and an empty boxcar. The boxcar was needed because the grain car had some problems  
with it's brakes, so the boxcar was added to aid with moving the hopper safely.
