This was Alta California on Friday, 2/18/2011.  It snowed most of the day and you can see what happens when the Union Pacific clears the snow off the two main lines.

Nice catch on the two snow fleet consists! There is a youtube video that documented the spreader rebuild on SP4031;

Thanks for the video link for the rebuilding.  I viewed them the first day they got to Roseville after the rebuild and watched them go up the Hill.   We took pictures of them in Truckee also, that is where they are kept during the winter so they can be clearing snow as soon as they are needed.  
 
The units looked like new at Roseville but working the snow Hill this winter will will certainly break them in quickly.
