I like this picture. UP is my favorite west coast railroad. I love the yellow paint. In this picture it says "WE CAN HANDLE IT"

Here is a GEVO I caught on a very wet day in Charlotte, NC last week.

A couple of questions here:

1) What is the classification of this locomotive? NS has ES40DCs and BNSF and CSX ES44DCs

2) Have been trying to find an updated UP roster that has these locomotives listed or at least projected.

Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks,

DannyR

They are ES44AC's. Not sure on the second. I'll have to look.

Here's a few UP pictures I've taken. First a couple from my trip in early June to Nebraska.

UP 5407 at Sutherland, NE

A slightly out of focus shot of the North Platte Yard taken at 430 AM

Your typical UP coal train rolling through your typical Nebraska town

OK, I know these are the worst vantage point of a UP freight. But it's all I have

These pictures were shot from the 109th floor of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, NV on August 8th

Doing my part to keep this thread active, how about some Heritage Unit Pics?

And a couple other somewhat recent shots. How about UP 5965 in Gibbon NE last June?

And the same engine a month later at Aikins, the most scenic spot in Kansas.

Running gear, UP 844.  Often, you don't have to see the whole thing to know what it is you are looking at.

Has it been so long since this thread was updated? How about a couple of pictures I took this month along the Golden State Route.

This intermodal train has just crested the tough Alta Vista Hill and faces a yellow signal at the advance signal for the end of double track. He will meet two trains.

A fast autorack train races through McFarland KS. Once upon a time, the Rock Island's High Line diverged from the Golden State Route here, and headed northwest to Belleville KS, where it joined the line to Colorado. This field was filled with a small yard, small roundhouse, a coaling tower, and a wye track. Today, all that's left is this milepost.

Just west of McFarland is another Rock Island artifact. Look closely at the bridge and you can still make out "Rock Island Lines".
