CSX coal train V877 arrived at Carneys Point, NJ, last weekend with CSX SD60 8749 leading, followed by UP SD9043AC 8138 and C44AC 6857.

No word that I can discover over the net or via U.P. employee friends.  As a former CNW employee, I'll be interested to see one, if they paint one.

Thought I would pass along this web address for those who haven't seen what it is your talking about:

Any one know where these locos are running around right now?  I'm locked and loaded with chrome in the Minolta if I spot them!

David, I noticed when they first came out, they headed for their home rails first. Whether they still are there, who knows! I haven't seen any photos of them for a while to be able to pin down where they're at. I'm hoping when the SP one comes out, they send it to California via the Golden State route so that I might have an outside shot at seeing it. Otherwise, I'm getting the feeling I may not ever seee these engines!

David, I just checked and got a couple within the week updates on the whereabouts of 1982 and 1983. 1982 appears to still be running between Texas and Chicago on the old MoPAC/CE&I, while 1983 was in Colton CA 4 days ago.  I'd imagine 1983 is still in CA, or running along the I-5 corridor.

Later that day I saw the train in the previous post, I was in Topeka, hoping to find some GEVO's. I had to be patient, but they showed! Here's one coming off the Golden State Route and onto the Kansas sub.

20 minutes later,  a train shows up and ANOTHER GEVO is leading! I was ecstatic.

While my main camera was in the shop, we got a bunch of snow here in Kansas, and I was chafing over not being able to get pictures of trains in the snow. Well, why not by another camera, and a digital at that? Here's my very first shot with it, and I must admit, that it's everything I hoped it would be. This is UP 6415 in my hometown of Manhattan, KS. These dash-9's are the last reminder of the road which was far and away my favorite in my younger years.

Been absent a while from Railfan.net, but such is a part of my life as a Fire Information Officer in a time when the hurricanes and wildfires are taking so much time to handle.

Here is a shot I took last summer over in Evanston, WY during a crew change.  Brand, spanking new units, crisp, clean and sharp.  The depot is restored beautifully and the roundhouse and turntable are still undergoing a total renovation.  A living museum of U.P. railroad history.

Enjoy... and I hope to contribute more now than nature has calmed down for a while.

Dave

Nice shot David, glad to know we'll be seeing more of you. Just a heads up, but there should be quite a few interesting UP locomotives going through your area over the next few hours to days. The WP heritage unit is headed west to Roseville Ca as I write, and the two Olympic Scheme engines are in Oregon, likely to be headed back east.
