Word has recently been released that as part of the Norfolk Southern's acquiring the Canadian Pacific Sunbury Subdivision from Schenectady to Sunbury, that our part of Pennsylvania will be part of the NS 21st Century Steam Program. What does that mean?  One of their star performers, Nickel Plate Road Berkshire 2-8-4 765 will be coming from Indiana and spend nearly a month at Steamtown.  Several trips are being planned, and currently a trip planned from Allentown/Bethlehem to Pittston is on sale.  It also means 765 will be running excursions for Labor Day Weekend, including the Saturday of RailFest.  Sunday, she will be a display in the park.  Plans are underway to make her part of the centennial celebration of the Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct in Nicholson, PA.
No real details are available at this time.
But add your thoughts and photos to this post when you get them.

It looks like all four of the 765 excursions departing Steamtown will go on sale Tuesday, June 30 at 12 noon.  Check www.765.org for the trains to the Delaware Water Gap and www.laurellinesspecials.org for the trains to Nicholson and Binghamton.  Links should be live soon.
