Very nice night time shots, Mike.  Here are some of mine, beginning at sunset.

Mike Hanley of the United Neighborhood Centers accepting a $1000.00 check from Canadian Pacific.  They also collected a huge amount of food and cash donations from the public.

After a few speeches, the band takes the stage with a great performance.

2010's edition of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Express will be in Scranton this year on Saturday, Nov. 27.  For the first time in several years, this will NOT be the first American performance location.  Rouses Point, NY, will be the debut spot on Friday the 26th.
The performance will be at 6:00PM.  I will be at a wedding that day, so I can't see the show, or the train.  Please post the photos here.

I am heading up there Saturday and looking forward to it.  I went last year, with a food donation, and enjoyed the day with both steam engines working and then the CP train at sunset.  Will the train be coming into Steamtown during the overnight or will that occur on Saturday morning?

OCtrainguy, the train will arrive in Steamtown around midday on Saturday, but I don't know an exact time for arrival.  This will be a departure from the past few years, but I'm sure things will work out.

Thanks for the information, it's appreciated.  It will be interesting, depending on when the train arrives, when they are working on yarding it with the Scranton Limited running and the Santa train coming back from Moscow..

The family and I had a great time seeing the CP train on Saturday.  My son was loving the opportunity to do some night photos with my daughter present while my wife took care of our food donation and caught up with us.  Will have photos later today or tomorrow.  There was a very large crowd there.  The train came in midday and I got some nice photos of the Nickel Plate GP9 passing the train with the Scranton Limited as well as the CN 3254 passing the CP train as well.

With the large crowds the past two years, hopefully the CP and Steamtown will keep the train's arrival on a Friday or Saturday night.

Nice photos, OC.  I was at a wedding that night, and it did take me by surprise to see the train in the yard around 2.  Even when you know something is happening, you aren't always prepared to see it, LOL
Glad you had a good time.

The Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend will once again see the Canadian Pacific Holiday train begin its US leg at the Steamtown National Historic Site. November 26 will the date for 2011, with the usual time of performance and departure.  Remember this is to be a fundraiser, so if you show up for the performance or the pin, bring some food or cash to donate to the less fortunate.  There is always someone with more need.

Thanks for the information.  I was just checking CP's website the other day to see when they would post the schedule as I was hoping it'd be a Saturday again.  I will plan on heading to Scranton that day.

Digging through some photos from last year, I overlooked this photo, which is one of my favorites:  http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2657915

The CP Holiday train is backing into its spot, Steamtown's train from Moscow is being back in to drop the coaches off and Nickel Plate 514 has the Scranton Limited.  Three moving trains in one photo!

Hard to believe this Saturday is when the CP Holiday Train comes to Steamtown.  I plan on being up there on Saturday and am putting together the food donation.  Does anyone know which organization will be collecting the donations?  I don't recall from last year.

Hi OCTrainguy:  The beneficiary of the food drive is the United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA.  The Scranton office is a few blocks away from Steamtown on North Washington Ave.  Last year was a tremendous collection from the community.  The reason they ask for canned goods and dry foods is because they get some fresh foods donated by the grocery stores before it spoils.  The cans and dry items give the food pantry other items to fill out the meal for anyone who stops by for something.  The food distribution is more like a care package that people take home to prepare for themselves, rather than a soup kitchen like operation.

Thanks for the information.  I remember reading how big the crowd turnout was and how much food was donated last year.  That's great news and I hope this year does as well.

Looking forward to Saturday!

I've been meaning to post, but have been busy since visiting Steamtown for the CP Holiday train.  Looks like they had a real good crowd this year, as I couldn't believe how many people were on Bridge 60 just checking out the engine.  There seemed to be just as many people at the engine as there were watching the performance.

After making the food donation, I headed up to the engine area before making my way back along the train.  When leaving, the van used by the United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA was just about full as we headed to the parking lot.  Will hopefully have some photos at the end of the week.

.... And the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will return once more for its 15th run!
Starting in Scranton yet again, this time she makes an appearance on Tuesday, Nov 26 at 5:15 PM.
Here is a link from the CP website.
http://www.cpr.ca/en/news-and-media/news/Pages/cp-releases-2013-holiday-train-schedule.aspx

I hope to see you there.  Enjoy the show and or the chase... plus bring some food or cash to help out others.  As bad as you or I might have it, there is always someone more in need.
