Thanks for the update. AT least there is some time before the next planned excursion so they can fix her and test her out.

Well, here's the latest from what I hear.
A new fire was started in the reassembled 3254 on Tuesday, July 14.  She made a test run on Wednesday to Moscow.  Bearings were a bit high in temperature on the climb, but cooled down on the return trip.

She was in Scranton Limited service today, making many people happy, especially the 4 cab riders.  She will make another test run on the Pocono main, very likely to Moscow, on Friday.  Saturday's scheduled Moscow train should still include steam.  An added bonus for Saturday.  A band of troubadors will play guitars and banjo at the Moscow Station during the layover on Saturday the 18th.  For those who attend, have a good time.

CP no. 2317 is getting fired up on Friday, July 17 for running Scranton Limited trains on Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone know if 3254 is actually getting a paint job this winter, as mentioned on Steamtown's website?    Maybe they will paint some more passenger cars also, like they did the combine?!!

Yes, 3254 is getting brand new paint this winter, along with some tender work.

How quickly we forget to mention the steam operations at Steamtown.  No. 3254's first day of service was yesterday, Wednesday, May 26.  She ran the four Scranton Limited trains and spent a bit of time on the turntable.  Good to see her back.  Now, she could use a bath.

No runs today because of a leak in the smoke box area.  This was quickly fixed, and she's smoking up again.  Memorial Day weekend is looking pretty good now!

I'm just glad they got the flue issue resolved.  I remember during one of the fall trips to Tobyhanna, the engineer said he had almost no pressure at all.  He had to cut her loose and head back to Scranton on his own, leaving 514 to finish up the job

When was 3254 last shopped?  I have to think that she's coming up on her manditory rebuild soon.

If I recall, 3254 was last in for a major overhaul around 2000 or 2001. As for how much time she has left, I couldn't tell you. She most likely has at least a few years left-565fan could probably tell you for certain.

The 2011 season began on Sunday, April 17 with steam!  No. 3254 hauled the afternoon runs of the Scranton Limited.  Not everything was hunky-dory, though.  Some minor adjustments were conducted on Monday, so she was steamed up for the day.  No train operations take place on Monday, so seeing her rolling around was an unexpected treat.

I caught her on the turntable just before she headed back to her stall that day.

A broken part of the stoker caused the crews to shut her down, move her to the loco shop and repair her.  She was back in one piece this afternoon.  Possible return to steam on Saturday with runs on Easter Sunday.

CN 3254 is back for the 2012 season! She was running on the "Scranton Limited" trains on Friday, July 6, and ran to Moscow on the 7th
This is perhaps the longest year without steam for Steamtown. Let's hope it stays that way. She ran perfectly on the runs.

To further prove that she ran perfectly, here is a video of the chase filmed by me. Please enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkRkSkNu7J0

Yep, aside from some dealing with a few pesky ATVs on the line, 3254 looked and sounded great coming into Moscow.

They dealt with them between MP 126 and 127, and I guess they were able to get her up to speed again before getting to the reservoir. They had a pretty good fire in her, by the looks of it.

Yeah, I didn't know until today what they dealt with. I just can't believe that it was THAT close!
