After completing her eight trips on the Pocono Main this month, 3254 is filthy.  For the next several days, she will be on track 14 in the roundhouse getting a power wash, and then a new coat of paint.  She has to look nice for Santa Claus when the Holiday Express begins operating November 28.

That that mean everything, from the CN logo to 3254 on the cab? She must have gotten dirty since July, the only thing I noticed was the 3254 a little chipped

Makes 3254 look more like an American steamer!

I found this pic of a Gettysburg 3254 with a CN plate on the front. Is this the same 3254? Here's the pic...

Yep, same loco. Steamtown traded CP #1278 to the Gettysburg Railroad for their CN 2-8-2 No. 3254.

As far as I know it will be diesel powered, probably with the NKP 514, and a few coaches.  3254 is still having its annual inspection and is expected to haul the June 27th trip to Delaware Water Gap.

booo, why would they do that? Why not postpone it until the loco is ready?
Wait, I thought 514 wasn't even allowed out of the yard right now because of cracks in her wheels?

The cracks were repaired years ago.  I guess there were enough people who wanted a nice train ride to make it worth while for them to go.

Don't worry, there are several other trips planned down that way this year.

Among the problems that 3254 has had to endure, one of them was uneven wear of the drive wheels.  ! was wearing down faster than the other 7.  This part, the Bissell post, needed repair and its bearing was re-bored a full 3/16th of an inch off-center to make her align right with the slightly warped frame this Mike has.  This should help her run the excursions and yard duties.
"The Bissell Post" held in by a bearing, bolted in place...

Where this post is in relation to the headlight.  The post acts as a weight, keeping the pony truck on track.

She was back to yard trains last week, and on Wednesday, June 17, took to the Mountain again, running to Moscow on a "break - in run" with 2 coaches.  No problems arose, and she was back to yard trains on Thursday.  2317 will return to the fold on June 26th, and on June 27, Steamtown will have two steamers running again.  Back to "normal"  as they say.
