Appreciate the kind words.......thanks!

Those monstrous "B-G's" have long been great favorites of mine, and they indeed are among the most unique and distinctive steamers ever constructed on any continent.

These hulking behemoths were, without a doubt, living, breathing, fire-breathing dragons of an ancient time and place in history....Great Beasts From The Mythology Of Railways.........

Well, last weekend saw the annual Maitland steamfest I mentioned in earlier posts. This was the 30th anniversary of the event. A lineup of 4 trains was arranged each hauled by a steam locomotive including the Garret, for a parallel run of the 4 train side by side. This link is a short view at East Maitland.

The 4 tracks had to be closed for 2 hours to the normal services. These included a time interval passenger service and the coal trains which are timetabled at one every 10 minutes in each direction.

This second link is longer and is taken earlier in the run when the trains were not perfectly lined up.

Over 80,000 people attended this event.

The blue diesel at the rear of 1 train is an Alco RSC3 which can run in multiple with both other Alco and EMD units.
