Hello rail fans! I'm doing exhibit research and I need your help naming this steam locomotive! Sorry if the picture isn't of the greatest quality.

Thanks for your help!

It appears to be Texas & Pacific Railway 2-10-2 "Santa Fe" type steam locomotive number 524. It was part of an order for 12 2-10-2 locomotives from the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1919. All twelve were scrapped by 1949.

The locomotive below it in the scan looks to be a 3460 class 4-6-4 Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway "Blue Goose" Hudson type

Agreed that the first locomotive, #524, is most likely a Texas & Pacific engine. The "Fallen Flags" website has a couple of pictures of "sister" locomotives, #530 and #536, which look mighty close to #524. The links are as follows:

For #530: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/mp/tp-s0530vaa.jpg

For #536: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/mp/tp-s536ggC.jpg

And the second engine, #3460, does indeed look like the former Santa Fe 4-6-4 "Blue Goose". Fallen Flags also has a couple of photos. Here's the link to the better of the two, IMO:

Hope this helps!

No question the bottom is the Blue Goose.
