These are beautiful pictures! Thanks for adding them, and let's hope the workers don't become "weary in well doing" in this project.
 
I do have a couple of questions: first, the pipe that runs parallel, straight along the boiler and then enters (?) the boiler just in front of the rear (high-pressure) cylinders: is that the injector, or part of the injector system?
 
Second, if it is the injector (pipe), why is the water positioned to enter the boiler so far away from the firebox?
 
TIA for any answers you can provide.

Not exactly sure the reason but I would assume it has something to do with the injector supplied water entering a cooler zone of the boiler...

Work continues. This shot is from 10/24/14. I would assume they have all the heater tubes out by now.
