Hi there...I was wondering if anyone could help me determine what kind of light this is? My house is on the railroad and I am also right across the street from an old railroad depot in an historic district and this light was found under the porch of my house. The light has Golden Glow, ESSCo Philadelphia written on it. It is about 16". Any information regarding the light is greatly appreciated. Is it a signal light or was it attached to a train?

Hello there.....welcome to Railfan.net!

Judging from the looks of it, it could possibly be an old headlight, perhaps even from a steam locomotive. Is there a way you could post a couple more shots of this? Perhaps a view from the side and maybe another angle or two? That may help clarify a little more. The visor on top is one reason that I think it "might" be a headlight.

Again, welcome aboard!

Don't think it is a headlight - mounted in a U-bracket that looks to be adjustable for elevation and attached to a base that appears to possibly allow the bracket to swivel. Maybe a floodlight, for a work train. Perhaps.
