Not too long ago I caught a photo on my camera showing a Phone box connected to a signel post on the abandoned west shore line right of way.
Did Prr and or NYCRR use a phone box semaphore signel for incoming trains to call for instructions?

Many railroads used trackside phones for instructions prior to the used of radios........NYC certainly did as well as a slew of others.
