Appears an inaugural run of Cascades over newly-rebuilt by-pass has derailed over I-5, with multiple fatalities. Why remains unstated 9and probably unknown).
Story from TRAINS linked here: http://trn.trains.com/news/news-wire/2017/12/18-amtrak-cascades-train-derails-onto-washington-highway?utm_source=SilverpopMailing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=News0_TRN_171218_000000_Final%20B&utm_content=&spMailingID=32297979&spUserID=MTE2MDcxMDI4OTM4S0&spJobID=1182294157&spReportId=MTE4MjI5NDE1NwS2
Tragic, for more than one reason.

As of this AM, evidently the NTSB folks are at site. They have habits of making
informed comments. So it is fairly apparent there questions that AMTK 501 into
the curved approach to the bridge, much too quick. Where the "RS" or "SR"
order controlling the movement to 30 MPH?
Also, the wreckage of equipment raises questions of its integrity?

Questions of equipment integrity should be answered in light of the fact that this was a TALGO train.

Yep, looks considerable tore up, BUT apparently 3 (last count I saw) killed out around 80 (pax and crew) on board, so looks as if not many crushed or thrown out (though fire chief indicated they used Jaws of Life and air chisels a lot to get people out).
