This seemed to be the appropriate forum to post this in.

Here is a fascinating (yet sad) look at what can happen when safety procedures are not followed. It's also (in a way) a tribute to all of the railroad workers who drive/conduct/dispatch trains every day with so few accidents. I for one am thankful for their vigilant attention to safety details in train operation.

Thanks Guys.

I have not visited this abandoned tunnel yet but it is in my neighborhood (about 100 miles away) and plan on a trip soon.

Thanks again

Interesting. Running a red (especially when you know there is a meet - I presume they did know that they would be having a meet) can be expensive in so many ways.

Doubtless NTSB would say that automatic train-stop equipment would have prevented the disaster...

Well, we have another head-on last day or so. In Arkansas, two UP trains with two killed, two hurt. NTSB on the scene of wreck and fire. I predict tht somebody ran a signal, or screwed up a meet if it is dark territory
