Title: Bilevel MU commuter cars
Post by Erie K-5 #2929 on Jul 11th, 2017, 12:07am
All:

I had heard (via an old co-worker who now works on NJT) that NJT might be purchasing MU bilevels.

Anything "concrete" on this?

Also, do you think that the LIRR might, one day, operate MU bilevels? (I know they DID operate such MU's until the early 1970's)

It would seem that the MU's have an advantage over their locomotive hauled-counterparts, in that no locomotive is need to power them.

Appreciate any input....thanks...... ;)

Nothing "concrete", but I've heard the same thing. Seems to be the way to carry more passengers without having longer trains.
