This past week had a couple of MofW cars get dropped in Piedmont, WV. with various defects that prevented their continued travel.

Car repair crews tended to the cars on Wed and Thursday. The first shot is the cars and the repair truck in the small Interchange yard at Piedmont, WV as a westbound Empty man passes - 19 August 2015

The Ballast Car had flat spots on all the wheels in it's east truck, the axles were quickly changed out and the car was released for service. The Gondola had flat spots on all wheels and required the replacement of all the truck mounted brake beams... these repairs were performed over the 19th. and 20th. - 19 August 2015

Don't think I have ever seen a wheel tread with that much spalling.

These wheels weren't just dead, they were shot, stabbed, strangled, and had heart attacks.

Not sure those can be cleaned up on a wheel lathe. May need to just go to scrap (presume salvage the axles).
