I've been reading over some of the older topics on here and wondered something that maybe some of you folks can help out with.

What are the major differences (aside from dealing with the public) between conductor jobs for Amtrak and freight roads?  (I'm thinking along the lines of schedule, pay, etc.)

From what I hear on the engineer side, Amtrak, you still have a life.  Freight, they own you.
