Great shots.  I would love to see some freight action right off of Michigan Ave behind that Delta gas station right now where the tracks practically run on the sides of peoples house.  I drove by recently to take a look at the tracks that were laid down for the reactivation and could not believe just how close they were to the homes there.  While those people living there may not be thrilled that trains may one day again be running that close to them I personally would love it.

While those are the people who will complain the most, I for one have no sympathy for them.  They knew too well there was a track behind their homes.
Hip, hip hooray for the return of the train!

I'm still keeping the faith that this line may come back some day.

Kenilworth 1977. Station still standing. Another one that should have been saved

#17 with the stations replacement in the background. Anyone know where that coach ended up?

Though not in Kenilworth, I wanted to post this pic of the RV's bright red boxcars. I think they were very eye catching.

A nice article from the Star Ledger about the history of the RVRR in Kenilworth.

I'm not positive but I think the coach might be at the Whippany Museum.  Link had to move it after the fire.  It's painted a bright yellow.  If you want to see what it looked like go to Richie King's website.

I love these pictures.  Puts me right back at the railroad with Bob Clark (my husband) and George Davis (my father).  Beautiful pictures of #17.  Thank you so much for putting this together.

I couldn't agree with you more.  I spent my childhood there and as an adult I worked there for my husband Bob Clark.  Sure miss him and the railroad.

glad you liked the photos. The RV was a great little shortline. I was always amazed at the bravery of the crews trying to get across Rt. 22.

I have been extremely fortunate, thus far, to have worked with members of the Clark Family, RVRR Historians, Area Historians, Former RVRR Employees, and Area Residents on this project. It is still very much a work in progress, adding new things almost everyday! Lots of history of this awesome little railroad in 95 years of operations. I'd love to see the RVRR operating today but I don't think I could handle another 21 years of history!!... LOL.

I would love to hear from anyone interested in anything relating to the Rahway Valley Railroad. Whether to collaborate on historical topics, contribute photos, share information, or just talk Rahway Valley - - - - I'd Love To Hear From You!! Honest!

I hope you are enjoying the website!

All the best,
Richie King

A major part of this website is to try take the story of the RVRR to a personal level . . . to the people who lived and worked there everyday . . . some, like Davis and Clark, for close to or over 50 years.
