Re: Rahway Valley RR Rolling Stock. - By gpicyk on 07/21/07 at 08:43:24 - '5197.jpg' 51 KB
In searching the net for a photo of a Rahway Valley box car I came across this photo from Chuck's Brass Trains. It is a model of a R.V. box car but it is what the prototype looked like. I'm trying to find a prototype photo for this thread. From what I remember the R.V. had a number of these cars.    George Picyk

I hope they get out of the way...they've gotta learn not to park on railroad tracks!

Anyways, I stopped by the Meisel Ave. Crossing in Springfield yesterday, and I came to find that the side of the crossing toward Summit was all cut back!

Note the track closest in the photo is the temporary single main track laid in 1965 to begin the elevation project before the Aldene Plan passenger service went into effect. Paul remembers trains rumbling through Roselle Park alongside the construction embankment. The track became one of the interchange tracks after the project was completed and was cut at the Locust st. sidewalk with a bumper post.Photo taken by Paul Carpenito and posted with his permission.  Just a quick explanation about the quality of the scans. I have an old, cheap, Epson scanner that is OK for prints but not too good on slides. Let me assure you that Mr. Carpenito's slides are excellent and that in the future I'll be purchasing a good slide scanner.    George Picyk
