I worked as conductor on that train back on October 23, 2002.
We had a CP SD40 in the lead and ran from CP Dupont to CP Lehighton then shoved back.

Again the saturday morning Turn is stopped at CP-Belt, waiting permission onto NS to go into the yard. The train is stopped right below the old PRR Main and RDG S-L Branch bridges.

From the Pennsy to the RDG! RGPN-28 is stopped on #2 Trk at CP-Belt waiting to go back onto home rails. This day the Turn had to run over and grab loaded stone cars off the Pennsy Branch to go points north. A very different but enjoyable ride!

The only gauntlet switch that we (R&N) have is at a place called "Myrtle".

Actually, there are no gauntlets on the R&N. Please forgive me if I am wrong, but I do believe that a gauntlet is the overlapping of two separate tracks to fit into narrow places such as bridges, tunnels, and cuts. Gauntlets are useful in that they eliminate the need for the maintenance of two switches and increase speed through that area. In other words, there are no switches, just two switch frogs to allow the two inside rails to cross. Below is an example of a gauntlet.

For some reason, every single movie that he posts is one of Lenny's. And for someone who gets hired by Pennsylvania's biggest and best college, Jeff sure doesn't know his grammar. Wonder how PSU overlooked that?

Good idea. Here's my contribution.

Several years ago I responded to a trespasser incident. The local newspaper beat me to the site. I was talking on a cell phone as I walked by and one of their photographers snapped this pic. They captioned it "A Norfolk Southern police officer heads to the accident site".

A friend of mine took the photo and added the caption in yellow letters. She sent it to many of my friends....and co-workers.

Oh well, glad folks have a sense of humor.

After having walked the Pennsy Branch from Hamburg to Port Clinton this past sunday, I was severly dissapointed by what I saw on the Kernsville Bridge. They have finished installing the fence (nobody ever fell off before) and the links in the fence are so small that you can not even fit a small camera lense through them! I guess thats the end of my pictures from the Pennsy Branch.

On the bright side, I picked up some very unusual pieces of railroad infrastructure that were lying in the trail on Sunday, and there is still a lot more!

The Pennsy Branch is seeing its first action since before the bridge was closed. The Reading Turn crew has been coming up to Temple after finishing in North Reading yard and shifting these ballast cars. I am not sure who the stone is for or exactly where it is coming from. The ramp on the right has recently been cleared of brush and debris and is being used to load the cars.

I made a short run over to the Kernsville Bridge again tonight to catch the Reading Turn. I had heard on the radio that both engines were going to be running long hood forward, and thats what I found! A little odd even for the R&N.

I didnt even see you up on the bridge.  Here we are waiting at CP-Belt under the ex-PRR/RDG bridges for an NS stack train to clear the interlocking.....i mean uh....."Control Point"

As of Saturaday 3-24-07, Locomotives 3053 and 3055 were interchanged at NS Reading for a trip to Enola for wheel work (if I understand correctly). Keep your eyes peeled while railfaning the NS Harrisburg Line.

They got a nice tour before heading west.  They went along for the ride to Titus to pull out the empties.  The local pushed the train over the Belt to clear CP Tulp.  Then set the hoppers off at Lawn before heading west to Millards.  Seen here trailing the UP 4420 & NS 9935 passing Richland, PA.
