NKP's only GP35, Springfield Terminal 212, ex-NKP 910, is in imminent danger of being scrapped by Guilford/PanAm. I just got this from a PanAm dispatcher.

Hello,
I am a dispatcher for Guilford/PanAm Railways and I've been  told by
management in the mechanical department that the remaining GP35's  will be retired
within the next few months. Generally, what's special about  that, but one of
these happens to be the one and only NKP 910 (currently ST  212). Supposedly, when
it does get retired from service it will be stripped of  usable parts and
scrapped. It seems to me that it would be a historically  significant piece of
equipment to save, even if that meant it being just an  empty shell.
Interesting, even though it has lost its mars light, it  does retain it's bell in the
side of the nose, where it has been since being  built. I would just like to
spread the word and possibly spark any interest,  perhaps start a motion to save
this unique locomotive and wish you all could do  the same.
Sincerely,
R. Cabrera

Any Idea whether this worthy unit was saved. Going by the ABSOLUTE lack of interest on this forum, I can only gather that nobody gave a rats..........

It was for sale in the summer of 2010 as reported in the NKPHTS Summer magazine. I don't have any info later than that.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of enthusiasm for preserving it.
