Here's one, if it was shot in B&W it could well be the 1940s...

Nice one Mike! I think the caption for that is "What'd he want us to do?"

Here's one more I dug up.

Bill,

You deserve a lot of praise for that photo!!!

It is simply incredible!!!

Mind If I give it a caption? It's a very poetic photo;
"Now listen here, I must tell you the tale,
Of the old steam engine, and the iron rail."

Very, VERY nice stuff...

Anyway, I have a few of mine own "Railroads and People Shots"...

Here's one of my best ones...

Joe...

Joe- thanks for the Kudos and the creative caption for the EBT photo- I have a couple others from that set with Mr. Holder.
There are quite a number of creative photographers posting on this forum, which keeps us all coming back to these boards. I'm going to post a couple of photos which I have framed and mounted in my home. I swore I wouldn't post these on a regular railroad forum, but since everyone is sharing their good human interest photos- here goes.

A sihlouette of Western Maryland Scenic's  fireman topping off #734's tender on a rainy friday in May 2006.

The conductor has a word with the engineer on the turntable at Frostburg. You can appreciate #734's true size with a person in the frame- she's a pretty large old girl!
Almost everybody else on the train walked up to the  overlook to shoot down on the engine being turned which gave me a clear shot.

I'd have to say that this is my favorite that I've taken so far.  A young railfan studies the drive wheel assembly of East Broad Top at Colgate Grove.  It finally got accepted onto RP.net.  I must have tweaked something right this time.

We crossed the tracks to get AMTK 48 passing by the old NYC Northeast Station, and while we were waiting, an older gent. came to the platform and waited a minute or so.  At first thought, I thought he was going to spoil the pic, but eventially he slowly crossed over to us.  I was kind of scared for him, although nothing was in sight.  Upon talking to him while we were waiting, he told us that he heard that "the passenger train was coming through today."  Upon talking with him further, he told us that he retired from the Northeast NYC statin as an agent in 1964.  He also told us that the last passenger stop there was in 1961.  He said that he has seen a lot of changes in railroading in his 90 year life.  Later in the day, the president of the LSRHS stopped by and told us that the old gent was the last surviving NYC employee to work out of that station.  He was a great old guy.  He reminded me of my wife's grandfather with the few stories that he told us yesterday.

***Note***  4/2/07 started a new timetable for Amtrak's eastbound Lake Shore Limited which now has it come through the Erie area in the daylight hours of the morning instead of overnight.
