Surpprised that we do not have a thread on this one already, or did I miss it?

Looks like this thing may happen.  The latest, and this from the trade press, Progressive Railroading to be precise:
http://www.progressiverailroading.com/prdailynews/news.asp?id=37920

The essence:
Quote:
The agreement enables All Aboard Florida to construct rail infrastructure parallel to the State Road 528 Corridor.

This with a leases with FDOT approved in June means that
Quote:
All Aboard Florida now has secured the right of way needed to build a passenger-rail line between Orlando and Miami, All Aboard Florida officials said in a press release.

Also, on Wednesday (Oct 2,2013):
Quote:
the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority's (GOAA) board approved several agreements that will allow All Aboard Florida to develop its Central Florida station at Orlando International Airport's future intermodal facility.

Very interesting. Appears to be  on what was the FEC Well, still is, really). Miami to Orlando in three hours - hmm, that is around 250 rail miles (car, using Florida Turnpike seems to be 235 miles, 3 hr 25 min per Google Maps), so around 80-85 mph portal to portal.  Wonder what equipment they will be using?

George - TAB - Clyde - All -

Many should like the part these efforts by this F E C entity, putting it in casino lingua, a proved "high roller" with real money behind the bets.
This is not a great deal of breathless hype by over educated MBA types, the latter good for completely fanciful notions as they are not under
oath...

In the promo piece, rather wish they hadn't fell for citing a number of most dubious claims about merits of new services. The "congested traffic
costs" are nonsense. In every case, it merely extrapolates "costs" associated with going to work at 0800 HR. Oddly, the travel times are not as
quick as times on the road at, say, 0200 HR. The usual figure is "peak time" travel comes with a fifteen (15) minute delay, compared with the
middle of the night. The wasted time metric is dubious.

SIGH! On a lighter note, F E C has made peace with C S X? Or, is this the import of the related statements the new line now has agreements
to run on easements on IH-4?

Related Note - Timetable Collectors? This recalls the earlier SEABOARD "Cross Florida" services, made possible by its Palm Beach extension,
a long time ago...
