Teasingly submitted here! <G> May I suppose many of us have a list of eager, on call "Know It All" types? Much the same
as the movie and TV disclaimers, real names not used to protect privacy!

For instance, a sad old and classic Irish ballad comes to mind, which title suggests a high profile, self proclaimed expert?
"...The pipes are calling..." as a hint? <G>

Indianapolis (SCL), 1970.

A distinct air of melancholy seems to permeate this gloomy view.....the deserted platforms, removed rails, and the long lines of empty baggage wagons are mute evidence to the recent loss of most head-end traffic.

Note ex-NYC Flexi-Vans under the trainsheds......

Owning line marks at other end of car, and cannot be seen. I suspect this one on the books as "SOUTHERN".
The oddity here? The car bears name, "ATHENS"...

Appreciate additinal info; photo caption link had car classified simply as an RPO, but I was also guessing that car carried baggage as well.

The name "ATHENS", too, I found intriguing.......

"H.F.M."

BTW:

Any clue as to the dome in consist of SCL train seen in Reply #713?

Being a "Yankee", I wouldn't dare hazard a guess........

Think, "ATHENS, GA"! On line point. (There's no accounting for careless and sloppy captions!)..

Yes, an AMTK fad of the moment. Note an N P car! Now then, they should have been able to slide with
"low" B & O cars on Alexandria, VA - Washington.

What we see with ex N P Car? It had to come off, northward, at Lorton, VA...

Vern:

Grazie!

Grazie!

I THOUGHT that that was an NP car I was seeing, but could not be 100% sure; in any event, that nifty little consist is well worth modeling!

Sloppy, incorrect captioning?

Oh, please, don't start!

A few days back, I clicked on a link that was SUPPOSED to be for a photo of the DL&W terminal at Hoboken.....guess what.......depot was at BINGHAMTON!

Such inaccurate, incorrect captions came make life frustrating, especially for those who are not at all that sure what they are looking at in the first place......
