Kensington, Maryland, 1968.

This timeless view of a truly classic "heavy on the head-end" B&O consist at Lockland, Ohio, in 1969, belies the fact that such consists will soon be relegated to history, with the coming of AMTRAK.

Truly a nostalgic view of American railroading as it was......

Lansing, MI, 1969.

This abbreviated consist recalls late-era Trains Nos. 21 and 22 on the E-L, later in the 60's.......

"THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING TRAIN"

Lansing, MI, again, one year later (1970).

Train is now down to but one car.

The clock was indeed ticking towards oblivion.....

Unidentified B&O scene, 1971.

Another of those classic "Gee, all looks right with the world" images.......

No info given for this 1950's-era ERIE photo; the advertisements on the plaforms suggest  a commuter stop in suburban territory......

Looks like Ridgewood NJ. Love those PA's!

NEFAN......

At first glance, "ERIE MAIN LINE" was written all over that classic view!

But, as they say, appearances can be decieving!

Wherever photo was snapped, it's STILL a wonderful old ERIE view.....

Maybe? In the times, photos hint there was a good bit of re-position of Power, between domiciles. A date would be most valued.

Ridgewood, NJ? GOOGLE MAPS, STREET VIEW inconclusive? Search point as GARBER SQUARE, Franklin Ave., Ridgewood,
NJ. Present Photos do not show exact sites in the subject Photo here.

Note a number of other Photos, already up here, depict some of the "PA" types in service on Ohio routes. Oh, well! Anyone here
with time on their hands to study the current GOOGLE "photo recon" shots, go right ahead!

GREAT B & O MEMORIES!

Photo of B & O #7 a bit puzzling. In many cases, see the Eric Bowen work at his Streamliners site.
http://www.streamlinerschedules.com/

Else, the collection presented here also notes the many changes which came with C & O control.
Many of the views recall long B & O History. Ex. Martinsburg, WV!

Vern.....

You are most welcome, my friend!

Could B&O passenger operations research ever be less than highly stimulating?<G?>

To be perfectly honest, I was quite surprised to see such heavy head-end consists on the B&O, so close to the dawn of the AMTRAK era.

Small wonder why the bottom fell out of the passenger market, when the mail and express revenues evaporated?

BTW.......any clues to the short "head-end" consist (see reply #247), where only passenger vehicle carried was a dome?

Certainly, this was NOT an E-L practice!<G>
