No details given on this wreck at 155th St., 1973.

The vintage NYPD car and Penn Central truck also help to date this photo......

The horrible dirty patched up consists on the trains out of Poughkeepsie in the late 70's and early 80''s were tough to watch.
The only good thing is that the cars had an interesting history.

NEFAN:

Once again, THANK YOU for posting these great pictures!

Yep, sad to say, that was the condition of most passenger rail equipment, back in those days.

As I had stated earlier, it was truly sad to see such classic equipment so poorly maintained......

LIRR Oyster Bay Branch, 1969.

Just behind the engine is an ex-B&O observation (still lettered for the B&O, and discussed earlier in this thread), followed by a UP car; these all became parlors on the LIRR, later in the 60's.......

An especially charming view. The Maps tell us GREENPORT rather challenged by facts (it is a victim here) as ninety-seven (97)
miles distant from Times Square. Likely, it hasn't changed. So, it not easy to immerse one's self in all the joys of the Big Apple?

The photo reminds of much earlier photos of the PENN trains running right to the Piers at Crisfield, MD. The smaller MD town hasn't
changed much since then. We may only hope such the case at Greenport. With the latter, provided one could get relief from NY
Taxes, a possible Paradise?
