"Anyone know the original owners?"

Pennsy. Rebuilt from a Budd 21 Roomette sleeper into a 64-seat coach by PRR. Served on PRR, PC, etc...

"SPV "dead line" at New Haven..... "

Not exactly. More accurately that is a row of Constitionliners since they were depowered back in the 80s and the ex-VRE coach behind them would indicate it is a fairly recent shot. Hadn't been SPVs for about two decades.

Sometimes I hate captions. Its a former MBTA Boise Budd rebuilt from an RDC. MNCR acquired two coaches and two cab cars from VRE after VRE had acquired the cars from MBTA.

Jerry.....

I had forgotten about the decomissioned SPV's converted into Constitutionliners.

I do know that it's been a least two decades sinse the SPV's ran under thier own power.

Had these cars not been "rushed" to completion, and more care given to the "mechanics", this could have proved a reasonably successful rail car.....

Jerry:

I totally concur!

Far too many captions either give minimal information, or, "data" that is woefully inaccurate.

Unless one has a good working knowledge of the subject matter, things can get pretty iffy......

That's Northern Sky Charter's Northern Dreams, which use to be an UP 11 Double Bedroom sleeper rebuilt from 5 Double Bedroom - buffet lounge car, ex-AMTK 2230 Star Bay, exx-2250 Star Bay, exxx-UP 1701, nee-Cedar City. Was rebuilt to a sleeper - lounge observation once again... really a nice car...

Ex-PRR "IMPERIAL PATH" at the LIRR's Morris Park yards, late 60's.

As was discussed earlier in this discussion, this car became a LIRR parlor car later in life.....

RDC action at Morris Park yards, 1960's.

Needless to say, the LIRR was never enamored by the type, rostering only two.

After retirement, one car was sold to the B&O, and the other stored at Jamacia, pending final disposition (1969).......

A most interesting "mixed" on the LIRR (undated photo, looks to be 1960's).

I believe the two "coaches" are old rapid transit "L" cars........

Not really on topic, but too good not to post here!

Vintage LIRR consist passing beneath a train of wooden BMT "Q" cars, operating on the soon-to-be-defunct Myrtle Avenue elevated.

So much rail history here.....note, too, the wooden interlocking tower.

This photo would date no later than 1969, which was when the Mrytle Avenue line shut down.....

White-lined LIRR heavyweight parlor cars; this would date the photo to about 1968/69, when the LIRR was replacing its old heavyweights in parlor service with second-hand lightweight equipment from various railroads.........

One of the LIRR heavyweight parlor cars, while still in service.

These handsome cars would certainly make magnificent museum pieces, if they survived today......

All aboard the "THE PATCHWORK LIMITED", or "JOSEPH'S TRAIN OF MANY COLORS".

This photo truly exemplifies the sad, sorry state of commuter railroading of he 1970's.

Was indeed depressing to see such classic equipment in such deplorable shape.

The glory days of railroading were clearly long gone, by the time that this 1977 photo was snapped at Poughkeepsie, NY......
