Another interesting old NY&LB scene, this one dating to 1980.

The trailing E8 is an ex-SOUTHERN unit; also note the old NYC lettering on the first coach.....

Jerry:

MANY, MANY THANKS, MY FRIEND!

Passenger equipment of long ago......most especially commuter operations......has been a lifelong passion of mine, and, the research involved for a topic such as this can indeed turn into a true "treasure hunt", revealing many hidden gems!

If I've "educated" anyone here even the slightest on this subject, then I truly feel that this topic has been a success.

And, to my fellow Forum brothers, who've also contributed so much of value to this thread, please allow me to say 'THANKS"!

I remember seeing shots of these cars in the past on one of the shortlines that runs excursions but can't remember which line it was...

This timeless CNJ NY&LB view at Elizabeth is yet another bygone  glimpse of former through equipment, far from home rails, now hauling the 9-to-5 crowd........

Another "mixed heritage" CNJ NY&LB train at Elizabeth, 1975.

Grimy and weary-looking, these ex-SOUTHERN E8's are now at South Amboy, relegated to hauling workaday NY&LB commuter trains.

Still, their distinctive Southern pride is most evident.....

Another CNJ train at Red Bank; the old CNJ Southern division (once the the route of the "BLUE COMET") curves off to the right.

"BANK" tower was sadly demolished around 1990......
