"Were any of these URHS cars ever at Hoboken for the steam excursions that used to be held, quite awhile back?"

I wish I could tell you but I do not know.  I know little about the area and its history but maybe someone else can provide an answer.  Sorry.

Jerry.....

No problem....just thought you might have been "in the know" on this one!

I can remember a BLUE MOUNTAIN & READING steam excursion out of Hoboken a number of years ago, but I think that those coaches were ex-DL&W MU's.......

Like the still-sleek consist trailing, this mighty GG-1, once the proud power of so many Pennsy through trains, has now been relegated to commuter services.

This NY&LB train is seen at Elizabeth; note the clock tower of the abandoned CNJ station on the left.

The busy CNJ main line to Jersey City once passed under the PRR at this point.

Date this scene to 1979.....

Perth Amboy, 1982.

#4879, one of the last GG-1's in service, hauling a consist nearly completly made up of second-hand streamlined through coaches.

Last car appears to be ex-PRR commuter's club car "JERSEY SHORE COMMUTER'S CLUB" (#1734).........
